Comparison of Noise Performance between a Fet Transimpedance Amplifier and a Switched Integrator

چکیده

sally used to monitor photodetector, or more commonly photodiode currents. These photodetectors bridge the gap between a physical event, light, and electronics. There are a variety of amplifier configurations to select from and the choice is based on noise, bandwidth, offset, and linearity. The most popular design approach is shown in Figure 1. A considerable amount has been written on the performance of this traditional transimpedance amplifier. This topology has dominated applications such as CT scanners, star-tracking instruments, electron microscopes, etc., where a light-tovoltage conversion is required.

A Sub-µW Tuneable Switched-Capacitor Amplifier-Filter for Neural Recording Using a Class-C Inverter

A two stage sub-µW Inverter-based switched-capacitor amplifier-filter is presented which is capable of amplifying both spikes and local field potentials (LFP) signals. Here we employ a switched capacitor technique for frequency tuning and reducing of 1/f noise of two stages. The reduction of power consumption is very necessary for neural recording devices however, in switched capacitor (SC) cir...

High-Gain Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) for Night Airglow Photometer

This paper describes a simple, inexpensive transimpedance amplifier (TIA) suitable to convert the fast current pulses delivered by photomultiplier tube of night airglow photometer into the corresponding voltage. Design criteria for the transimpedance amplifier are carefully selected to include low input bias current, offset voltage and noise. The operation of the transimpedance amplifier and th...

High-Performance BiCMOS Transimpedance Amplifiers for Fiber-Optic Receivers

High gain, wide bandwidth, low noise, and low-power transimpedance amplifiers based on new BiCMOS common-base topologies have been designed for fiber-optic receivers. In particular a design approach, hereafter called "A moreFET approach", added a new dimension to effectively optimize performance tradeoffs inherent in such circuits. Using conventional silicon 0.8 μm process parameters, simulated...

High-speed transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) used at the front end of optical fiber receivers present design challenges in the form of trade-offs between input noise current, speed, transimpedance gain, power dissipation, and supply voltage. This transimpedance amplifier in 0.6μm CMOS exhibits 4.5pA/√Hz average input noise current, 622Mb/s data rate, and 8.7kΩ transimpedance gain while dissipati...

Analog Front End Low Noise Amplifier in 0.18-μm CMOS for Ultrasound Imaging Applications

We present the design of Analog front end (AFE) low noise pre-amplifier implemented in a high voltage 0.18-μm CMOS technology for a three dimensional ultrasound bio microscope (3D UBM) application. The fabricated chip has 4X16 pre-amplifiers implemented to interface a 2-D array of high frequency capacitive micro-machined ultrasound transducers (CMUT). Core AFE cell consists of a high-voltage pu...
